    The day began with an opportunity for attendees to connect with fellow ASC professionals, industry partners, and colleagues from across the state.

  • The NOPAIN Act Opportunity: Enhancing Recovery, Reimbursement and the Patient Experience in the ASC
    Presenter: Morgan Montalvo, Enovis
    Attendees gained insights into the NOPAIN Act and its potential to improve patient outcomes while creating new reimbursement opportunities for ambulatory surgery centers.

  • Lunch Break and NCASCA Membership & Government Affairs Report
    Participants received updates on NCASCA initiatives, membership activities, and key legislative and regulatory developments impacting ASCs.

  • Life Cycle of an Insurance Claim
    Presenter: Wendy Hughes, SCA Health
    This session provided a comprehensive overview of the insurance claims process, highlighting strategies to improve accuracy, efficiency, and reimbursement outcomes.

  • Physician Scorecards
    Presenters: Mary Beth Ayres and Cade Lennon, Brunswick Surgery Center
    Attendees learned how physician scorecards can be used to measure performance, support quality improvement initiatives, and drive data-informed decision-making.

  • Networking & Closing Remarks
    The event concluded with additional networking opportunities and a final discussion of key takeaways from the day.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the NCASCA Spring Education Day. It was a great day of learning, connection, and meaningful discussions focused on supporting North Carolina’s ambulatory surgery centers.

Attendees gained valuable insights across several key areas impacting ASC operations:

  • Sterile Processing & Survey Readiness
    Pamela Carter delivered a highly informative session on how sterile processing departments are evaluated during surveys, highlighting common findings, documentation expectations, and practical steps to stay compliant and prepared.
  • Regulatory Updates: State & Federal
    Melanie Bush provided important updates on current regulatory topics affecting North Carolina ASCs, including survey trends, compliance priorities, and key changes influencing day-to-day operations.
  • Supply Chain Best Practices
    Katie McDermott shared actionable strategies to improve supply chain efficiency, manage costs, and support long-term operational sustainability within the ASC setting.
